Joe Vachon grew up in Peoria, Illinois.
His senior year of high school he won the Michelangelo award. He went to Southern Illinois University, majoring in general studio art. His Curriculum included: figure drawing, painting, sculpture, bronze casting, small metals, ceramics, and blacksmithing.
He used to be a staff member at D-Acres (Dorchester, NH), where he still gives workshops at the farm. He renovated a manure spreader and water transporter, as well as building a bicycle powered waste veggie oil pump.
He also does works at Loon Mountain Ski Resort (Lincoln, NH). He runs the Blacksmith Shop, making items for visitors to purchase, often times while they wait.
